The Story on the Bolger (Boulger) Family was consistently told; that, there were two brothers who were wealthy land owners and in print (media) on or around 1840 living in both Dublin and Co. Wexford. The Bolger Brothers had one of the first printing machines locally and would create and distribute the 'Reviewers Review' publication which was handed around the pubs and bars of Ireland with a donations bucket "for the boy's". The Bolger Brothers lived on large estates and were later estranged, after one brother's children were asked to enter the servants entrance when visiting to play with their cousins.
With the split in the family and fortunes dissolved, one brother removed the 'o' from his surname and went to Boston Massachusetts and is thought to relate to James (Whitey) Bulger. The other brother removed the 'u' from his surname settling in London's East End.
The Story on the maternal side, is only recently being completed by Darren's mother, a Genealogist for over 50 years, who has dedicated her life to correcting Irish history (Northern Ireland & Ireland). Mrs Bolger (nee Johnson) was also, a Trustee of the first Pro Bono Criminal Appeal's Charity - Justice on Appeal.
It was the meticulous and detailed research of Mrs Bolger, that she discovered many inaccuracies in Irish History and has discovered that her 2 x great Grandfather John Johnston was the designer, and builder of the Rollo Gillespie Monument in Comber.
A meeting (2019) was held in Ards & North Down Council Chamber
"AGREED, on the proposal of Alderman Girvan, seconded by Councillor McAlpine, that this Council requests that officers bring back a report on erecting a plaque in memory of Mr John Johnston, the designer and builder of the Rollo Gilllespie Monument, the Square, Comber." Read More Here
Born Darren Thomas Bolger in 1969 at Queen Mary's Hospital in Stratford, East London. His Father, a Shipwright and Genealogist Mother.
Darren lived in Stratford for one year before moving to 42 Celandine Close, South Ockendon Essex RM15 6JA taking his first steps there on the council estate home, aged 13 months.
Darren comes from an East End family with a history of Boxing having been encouraged to join Belhus Boxing Club aged, only five years old and had his first GYM BOUT aged just seven.
Darren's Maternal Grandfather - Wilson Johnson (AKA Bill, Mick) born in Callan Street Armagh (1906) was a Bare Knuckle Fighter, brought up by travellers (gypsies) upon the death of his mother aged just 18 months old. Wilson later moved to West Ham and trained some of Canning Town in East London's finest Boxers, including: Jackie Bowers (Peacock Gym - Canning Town), Terry Murphy (Owner of Bridge House Canning Town), Terry Gill and Olympic boxing legend Terry Spinks in the back yard of his family home at West Ham Buildings, witnessed by Darren's mother.
-
Darren's Paternal family originated in Dublin and Co. Wexford with an equally interesting history of Boxing extending through the generations and integral to Canning Town for over 100 years.
Darren went to the local Nursery at the Village Hall before attending, Benyon Primary School, then, Benyon Junior School, then onto Culverhouse Comprehensive School for his teenage years. Darren's younger brothers, Brian and Jason followed soon after although Jason was at Bonnygate Junior School before Culverhouse.
The Bolger family are avid West Ham supporters and such is the intent to retain 'real cockneys' in the male lineage, that Darren's parents returned to his paternal grandparents home at No. 9 Avenons Road in Plaistow E13 so that his younger brothers could also be born in West Ham. During Jason Bolger's birth, Darren spent a short period of time attending Ravenscroft Primary School, adjacent to his grandparents home.
Darren spent most Saturday's in East London throughout his life other than when restoring the North Devon Barge (named Wendy) at St. Osyth's boat yard, which was purchased from the scouts/ Carlo de Chair. Darren and his brothers were destined to follow in their father's footsteps as Shipwright's and add their paternal grandfather's (Bert) trade of Plater/ Boilermaker. Bert was the convener of the Amalgamated Society of Boilermakers, Shipwrights, Blacksmiths and Structural Workers.
Whilst excelling at Carpentry throughout school, plus three GCE's and seven CSE's - the Shipbuilding industry was closing in East London and Millwall docks and rather than to take his Shipbuilding Apprenticeship in Hull, Darren was given a choice to either take an Apprenticeship as a Broker with Lloyds of London in Aldgate or an Apprenticeship as a Carpenter & Joiner.
Darren was accepted to take the Broker position after his interview and yet, he chose to enter an Indentured Apprenticeship with City & Guilds as a Carpenter & Joiner instead.
Darren was lucky to have his father leave the Shipbuilding Industry, continuing to mentor his Sons as they all completed their respective apprenticeships working on, Grade l and Grade ll listed buildings, pub refurbishments, and large commercial contracts; including, all four offices of KPMG in the City of London, Warburg refurbishment and the refurbishment of the Circle Bar at the Atlantic Bar & Grill in Glasshouse Street, London etc.
Darren returned to shipbuilding in Tilbury docks (1990-1) and left within 12 months after having a major head injury on a container ship, which almost ended his life. As is Darren's nature, he went on to build and refurbish the New Orleans at Lakeside (Essex), another for Hobbs & Sons in Henley Upon Thames and other work to the Elizabethan Restaurant (then) owned by Sir Richard Branson.
The Bolger brothers were soon recognised as highly skilled tradesmen, respected and trusted by industry leaders. They were invited to work on the homes of Prominent, Trusted, Jewish families throughout North London, Hampstead, Highgate & Hertfordshire, some - immigrants or relatives of the Holocaust.
They were then contracted by Nick Norden (son of TV's Dennis Norden) to complete the homes of private individuals with privacy of equal importance to their skillset. The Bolger Brothers then completed the refurbishment of Salman Rushdie's home (1995), Ex-head of M15, families of high profile lawyers & villains.
It was said that a combination of East End history, community respect, skills, persona and trust, that opened doors to the Bolger Family from Canning Town and Essex.
It was Wednesday 11 March 1998. A day not too dissimilar to any other. The Bolger brother's, father and uncle Terry, also a Shipwright now Carpenter (from Tree Road, Custom House) were all working on a refurbishment in Dulwich Village. A message was delivered that the materials were not going to arrive until the following day, so the Bolger family made a decision to go home.
Jason Bolger soon opened his garage located at the end of Celandine Close to work on his Ford Sierra RS 500 Cosworth before joining Brian for a 'few beers' in the local pub named, the Village Inn but better known to locals as 'The Plough', before it's immediate change of name to the Stones Throw.
Darren was asked to join them but chose to stay at his local flat, at 59 Celandine Close across the car park from when he was brought up and behind the local pub. What happened next would change their lives forever
With Darren's two younger brothers & family needing significant financial support and with his parents making the prison visits to retain moral, Darren was unable to work the hours required of a carpenter, even on price-work to support his family. Darren was offered an opportunity to 'potentially' earn what would be required to cover the costs of the family's financial needs when asked to Manage 'The California' Pub and Strip-Club' which was located at 12 Albert Dock Road in North Woolwich, East London E16.
Darren had some basic experience working in a pub on weekends helping his his then girlfriend back in 1996 (The Black Adder in Ipswich) and decided to use his career skills to refurbish and decorate the run-down East-End pub and 'strip-club'.
Imagine the irony working & managing the pub whilst his brother's position was based in a pub in not too dissimilar a state.
Darren left the California after what he thought were, some of the craziest moments of his life. The emotional rollercoaster of the situation with his brothers, the legal process, watching his parents and family suffer and managing a pub, with naked women, drag nights with male strippers (for the ladies) and the madness of managing a bar in the middle of the East End with all of its characters and drama's. We can all take something from these experiences and it was whilst working one Saturday, that Darren' ran out of the pub after hearing someone shout "HELP". Darren ran to the river Thames and rescued THREE BROTHERS from the mud.
The fire brigade were sent to the wrong address arriving 15 minutes after the brothers were saved. Had the brothers remained in the mud for ten minutes more, and the tide would have been over them and they would have all died.
The irony of being able to save the lives of these three brothers, yet unable to change the position of his own family situation of three brothers. Eastender's always stick together and once hearing of the story of the saved brothers, the pub was regularly visited to meet their local hero, which only brought more business and subsequently, more financial support for his family. With East End support, the pub flourished and the family survived.
Darren left the California soon after his brothers were convicted of Murder, staying with his ever supportive Nan, named Violet (Nanny Vi) to get himself together and try to find a way forward as his brothers needed his help even more than ever and at this exact moment, his parents relationship was under severe pressure as Darren watched his while family falling apart.
Darren applied for a role of Project Manager with Top Flight Loft Conversions based at 2 Haven Green Lane in Ealing. Darren found the role gave him the ability to focus on something other than the family situation and drive his career forwards for the sake of his family. Darren worked with the Managing Director Peter Lloyd (deceased) & took the business with 8 teams at that time, to 36 teams within one year & by initiating incentives "for the boys".
Darren wanted to advance the development of Top Flight and invited Peter Lloyd to share the profits of his company. As Darren had yet to be a Company Director, the thought of sharing a business whilst in its prime, did not interest Peter and Darren left the position to initiate his own company. Before he could do so, he was still living in Celandine Close and travelling into London each day. Darren knew that Wandsworth was beginning to change its profile and decided to launch his plans there. Darren returned to his tools and worked for local loft conversion companies, building his reputation as a local tradesman. Darren purchased a one bedroomed flat at 109 Ericcson Close, Wandsworth SW18 1SQ for £132,500 from Alan Fuller Estate Agents, assisted by Michelle Louise King, an Independent Financial Advisor, with flexi-desk at the Putney Based real estate agents.
Michelle Colbran (nee King) and Darren began a relationship soon after meeting and this is where Michelle introduced Darren to a database on every residential building project in the UK. Michelle wanted to utilise the planning database for selling in financial products and re/mortgages etc for homeowners about to carry out loft conversions and extensions etc.
Darren put down his tools and carried out mass mail-merge letters to the database, supported by ongoing referrals and gained a business that soon rivaled Top Flight. So much so, that Top Flight employees soon worked for Custer Developments Ltd and Top Flight evaporated from the South West London Loft scene. Darren became the Secretary of Michelle's limited company, Crown Financial Consultancy Ltd and 'jointly' designed a platform for Financial Advisors and Investors (AKA - SOS). The relationship ended soon after she introduced Darren to her father, a serving Detective in the West Midlands Police.
It was whilst some success with Custer Developments Ltd, late nights at the K-Bar in Radcliffe Gardens in Chelsea, The Sugar Hut in Fulham, Darren was working on the homes of the most respected individuals in the land. Their good name so important to the successes of his introductions and beginning with numerous military officers and journalists. Tim Rayworth (brother of newsreader Lucy Rayworth) and Lucilla Watson (nee Bathurst) - Lilla to her close friends. Lilla is the sister to Lieutenant General Sir Benjamin John Bathurst KCVO, CBE - daughter of Admiral of the Fleet, Sir David Benjamin Bathurst GCB, DL.
Darren and Lilla spent a considerable amount of time together, both, whilst working on the double extension of her Wandsworth home and privately discussing how her network behaved whilst having fun together in the wine bars of Chelsea & Westminster.
It wasn't too much later than the relationship with Lilla ended as another began, with an introduction to Giovanni di Stefano by a friend of Darren's brother at HMP Swaleside. The introducer was named Darren Cullen who was serving 16 years for murder in Basildon Essex. At this point, Mr Cullen were, along with Kenneth Noye etc. the clients of Mr Di Stefano who was looking for help.
Darren arranged a meeting with Giovanni at his London home in the Kings WWardrobe in St. Paul's before paying him £10,000 to have his brother's case reviewed for Appeal by Mr. David Martin-Sperry of Counsel. Whilst Giovanni had no hope for bail of his client, Darren then agreed to assist Mr. Cullen and volunteered to personally bail Mr Cullen to his (then) home at 81 Putney Bridge Road SW15 and give Cullen a job as a labourer with Custer Developments Ltd.
Darren moved to Lennox Gardens Mews in Knightsbridge SW1V and back to Wandsworth Common along with his child's mother (Miss Havisham). He had spent a considerable time, along with his mother, researching the events that led to his brother's case.
Darren and his mother were making headway on the case for Appeal on Conviction and had gained a considerable amount of serious doubt in evidence, on the conviction of the Bolger's. Miss Havisham revealed information, that would not have been known to put serious doubt in her trust and the relationship ended.
Darren was almost out of funds and so, he Incorporated London Building Specialists Ltd and (again) wrote to individuals in South West London to invite them to use his company' services after having made a planning application for works on their homes. Darren had met with Janet Eavenson, an American interior designer based in Fulham and Paul Cooper, a Salesman for Magnet Kitchens also based in Fulham. Darren, Janet and Paul all collaborated in bringing building works and refurbishments into fruition. Janet returned to the USA now in California with Londonto Laguna Interior Design Studio. https://www.instagram.com/londontolaguna/
Paul Cooper (Magnet Fulham) invited Darren to purchase plasterboard, and other popular building commodities at best prices - from Magnet Fulham. Darren formed two limited companies to manage the contract, which was allegedly repudiated by Magnet Ltd (see evidence page) who entered the contract after the Head Office had verified all documents.
Darren's two companies instructed Mr David Greene of Edwin Coe Solicitors, and received positive advice on Merits from Counsel namely: Mr. Timothy Concannon, Mr Anthony Metzer KC, Mr William McCormick KC and Mr. David Berkeley KC. Quantum was reported by Mr David Sinclair of Axiom Capital (forensic accountants) estimated losses to Darren's two companies at £1.2bn.
Darren had created and then submitted grounds of appeal for his brother's case to the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC). The submissions set out how that the blood samples, important part of the case, had been mislabelled with other co-defendant/s. A helicopter video had been hidden by the prosecution and police. The Scenes of Crime Video had been fabricated. A juror related to a barrister who was previously, an ex-Essex Police Detective (David Holborn of 18 Red Lion Court Chambers) - had shared a room with prosecution counsel who sat on the jury at his brother's murder trial. The CCRC refused the appeal even though the grounds were evidenced. Darren decided to create a charity to address the issues he was facing and whilst with the serious issues contained, 'on appeal'. Justice on Appeal (JA - short for Jason). JA completely unnerved the British Judiciary as here was a Defence Focused Criminal Appeal Force that was not aligned to Establishment Interference.
Darren was asked to meet with Sir Michael Napier CBE QC, Sir Robin Knowles CBE QC and Kate Warmsley (of the Law Society) at the offices of Irwin Mitchell. Mr Napier raised concerns the pro bono envoy were concerned as to of the power that Darren would have with criminals in one hand and future lawyers & judges in the other.
Darren refused to join the establishment and instead, retained his position fighting for the justice for convicted prisoners and other individuals who had seen no Justice. Shortly after this meeting, Darren's mother's door was almost unhinged by the Met Police and Darren was 'invited' to attend Birmingham Police for formal police interview on allegations of harassing key members of the Criminal Cases Review Commission (result - No Further Action).
Tom Kark KC is a Fraud Prosecution Barrister at QEB Hollis Whiteman Chambers in London. Tom and his wife Judith, thought that they had tricked Darren's company, Building Matters London Ltd into completing an element of the works at a fraction of the cost. A cost that they had previously received a quote on. Darren had the Fraud Prosecutor in difficulty as he had detailed the works in the contract, which embarrassed the Kark's and ensured that they then repudiated the contract.
Knowing of his potential future losses after Darren's lawyers had written to the Kark's, & Tom's refusal by the Police; Tom used his position as a Barrister when communicating with all of Darren's company clients, and the Serious Fraud Office, making false claims, with the 'intent' to bring a prosecution against Darren.
Darren had claimed, that Tom Kark and others had colluded.
Darren was arrested for Fraud and tried for 17-weeks on seven counts of Fraud and, even whilst in the thick of a Criminal Trial, Darren invented then initiated an Apprenticeship Initiative in East London and then completed a contractual partnership with the Employment Service JCP in Hammersmith and Fulham and on his day back from Norwich Crown Court, and in his Christmas Holiday, attended an event at Ealing, Hammersmith and West London College, and presented his Initiative to 200 unemployed attendees and dignitaries.
JCP endorsed and officially entered into this Sector Based-Work Academy (SBWA) agreement with Darren's company. Links to the Event by clicking on the photo and, here, here, here, here, here
Darren's defence to the indictment on all counts of Fraud was Collusion by the complainants to bring a prosecution. All of the defendants denied this. This was the same defence as Darren had given to the Hammersmith & Fulham Police on interview.
During the trial, it became known that there had been evidence 'collusion' and approximately 2,000 emails were later brought to the court which evidenced the defence of collusion and that Tom Kark QC had, led the collusion of all seven complainants (possibly more), after failing to interest the police alone with Jamieson.
Darren obviously asked for the emails to be read to the jury, which was refused by Mr. Adam Budworth of the defence team and barrister at 2 Bedford Row Chambers. The Police were included in the emails and knowingly had them, but failed to disclose them nor investigate the defence case of collusion.
Miss Jane Osborne was initially acting as Prosecution Counsel whilst a barrister at 2 Hare Court Chambers. A fraud case is heavily reliant upon the finances of the company. These financial documents were initially claimed to have been lost by Darren's solicitor (on oath) and later understood during cross examination that they were stored in the solicitors safe, in his office.
Upon disclosure (3/4 of the way through the trial of Darren) of the 2,000 emails, there was an email from Miss Jane Osbourne KC to DC Angela MILLS (Officer In Charge). The email was Miss Osbourne explaining to DC Angela MILLS, the prosecution were in difficulty, as she had obtained a copy of Darren's company bank accounts, stating that, The Company (and Darren) were 'carrying our legitimate business'. Miss Osbourne then went on to confirm that this 'positive evidence' on Darren's company finances would 'damage the Crown's case' & to place this key evidence in the Unused Material. There was no Schedule of Unused Material.
Approximately 2,000 emails were later brought to the court which evidenced the collusion and that Tom Kark QC had, led all complainants, after failing to interest the police alone. The emails were not shown to the jury, even though requested for such by Darren to the defence team. Mr. Christopher Stimpson also tight-lipped on matters of disclosure of the emails & unused material. Mr Stimpson went on to try and ridicule Darren in his cross examination by saying to Darren, 'so where are your financial documents Mr. Bolger, if that is, you are not a Fraud'. Mr Stimpson did this before the jury whilst knowing that the financial documents not only existed, but were deliberately hidden by Darren's previous solicitor, who denied this in his sworn statement and during his own cross examination. These same financial documents, were of concern to the Crown and not placed in the Unused Material. They did however appear in the POCA file.
Each prosecution has an indictment. Each of the seven complainants were associated to a numbered count on the indictment. The jurors spend 17-weeks distilling evidence and made their decision on the evidence and the indictment.
Mr. Stimpson asked the Judge to change the indictment during the summing up. The jurors were asked to retire, whilst the Court Clerk - Mr. Jim Webster, removed the indictments and replaced them with a re-ordered indictment. The complainants names now not correlating to the original Count name. Recorder Catherine Moore then told the clerk to remove the continuity document "a helpful document" (summing up) which would have assisted the jurors if having any difficulties with the re-ordering of the counts. Recorder Moore then summed up in the manner in which the initial indictment was led. Intent to confuse the jury?!
A conviction obviously ensued & upon his release from HMP Blunderston after periods at HMP Norwich, HMP Ford, HMP Lewes. Darren looked to get back to work. (Darren leaves Prison above).
It will be of little surprise that with time to consider his future, Darren revisited his past career highlights and contacts and thought to somehow bring together a trusted community of influential individuals, luxury brands and professionals.
Darren contacted his previous Accountant, Derek Williamson of Goddard's Accountants in West Molesey, Surrey. Darren explained his plans and set about connecting with old contacts. Derek mentioned some deals he had mustered and asked Darren if he could introduce him to all the 'right people'.
Whilst Darren was inventing his new luxury brand platforms with his multiple companies, he was trailing: 'Opulent Interiors' with his new contacts, HRH Princess Katarina of Yugoslavia and George Bond (pictured right) were both on board.

Darren was introduced to Doug James, founding partner of Honey Creative who then introduced Darren to his company's Commercial Director, Mrs. Lulu Laidlaw-Smith.
Lulu was trying to launch her platform building and advisory company, Accapella along with her friend and assumed 'step father' Steve Kelsey formerly of PI Global. Darren was assisted in understanding how beneficial multiple platforms would be to his new venture The Home Club; named at a meeting along with the Honey Creative executives, in Lulu and Darren's home at 46 Popes Grove Twickenham. Darren handed a Water Purification Business (Q250) to Derek before, he either closed or sold all of his businesses to Derek Williamson to continue with The Home Club as a single platform, whilst Lulu eventually settled upon the formation of Rip it up and Start Again and interesting initiatives, along with her 'Special Forces' (Commando) family member.
Darren Bolger, was asked to join London Building Specialists Ltd as Managing Director, when the founder director seriously injured his spine. Darren developed the South West London firm (Wandsworth) which created beautiful conversions and refurbishments for homes and commercial premises. Darren re-developed his Apprenticeship Initiative by taking on apprentices from disadvantaged backgrounds to learn the skills of the construction industry.
The industry has been through some difficult times since the financial crash. Darren says, “It is important for the building industry to nurture new talent. Since 2011 we have been helping young people to learn the basic techniques which mean they can work in the industry. Recently we have also added training in ecological construction and materials. So we are looking to the future, as new methods replace older, less environmentally-sound ones.” Darren Bolger receives Mayoral award
The Home Club was created to bring together individuals who wanted to receive access to must-have luxury goods and services and attend fabulous events within one trusted network.
The Home Club AGM at Point Pleasant Wandsworth SW18.
The Home Club was infiltrated by a fake Lord, Buckmaster-Brown along with Russell Dalgelish (tech giant) and Mark Moody (Social Editor of OK Magazine). The Home Club business model was handed to City AM who created City AM Club assisted by Victoria Salem (brand ambassador of The Home Club) and founder of the Golden Network.

Darren then returned to further his business interests at an event in Berkeley Sq. Mayfair where he met with a man, looking to invest in a future media business for luxury brands to connect, Trusted Individuals, including, UHNWIs, Brand Ambassadors, Influencers, Journalists and Bloggers to Luxury Brands & Content, via global media platforms, events and parties. The Home Club returned!
